PORTAGE, Mich. (June 1, 2014)- Four people were injured Sunday morning after a three vehicle crash in Portage.

According to the Portage Department of Public Safety, the accident happened at the intersection of the off ramp of eastbound I-94 and S. Westnedge Ave around 11:20 a.m. Officers say that a 42-year-old Richland man was driving his Chevy Corvette when he may have had a medical emergency and lost consciousness. The vehicle then continued off the ramp, crossing several lanes of S. Westnedge, and struck a Suzuki passenger vehicle and a Mercury SUV stopped at a traffic light.

The two occupants of the Suzuki, a 60-year-old woman and her 59-year-old husband suffered serious injuries in the accident and were transported to Borgess Hospital for treatment. The driver of the Mercury SUV, a 45-year-old woman suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

The driver of the Corvette also sustained minor injures in the crash and was treated and released at the scene.

Officers believe that neither speed nor alcohol were factors in this accident. The crash remains under investigation by the Portage Department of Public Safety.
