COLDWATER, Mich. (June 3, 2014) — On May 29, 2014, a 911 dispatcher took a call from Steven Eric Shaw, 41, who is accused of murder in the death of 7-month-old Carson Burm.

Some of the 911 call made on Thursday could be heard as follows:

Dispatcher: Seven month old infant there. Went into seizure activity. Not breathing. Priority one.
Shaw: Oh my God.
Shaw (speaking to Carson): Come on bud. Come on bud.
Dispatch: Okay, can we get him flat on his back? I don’t want any pillows or anything under his head.
Dispatch: Is there anything in his mouth? Okay, can you hear or fell any breathing?
Shaw: He’s got a heartbeat. But I (inaudible)
Dispatch: Okay, just light puffs of air.

Juvenile court in Branch County revealed that Shaw lost custody of his own children. Burm’s family told FOX 17 that Shaw lived with the infant’s mother. Court records list Shaw as homeless.
