Chamber PAC Announces Candidate Endorsements

WEST MICHIGAN (June, 9, 2014) — The Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce political action committee, Friends of West Michigan Business, revealed its endorsements for two U.S. House races and Michigan’s Senate contest.

Former Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land is getting the nod in her U.S. Senate race with Democratic Rep. Gary Peters.

“I am honored to have the support of the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce,” Land said in a statement.  “I grew up in the Grand Rapids area, and I know how hard each and every one of these small business owners works to make the economy stronger and the community a great place to raise a family and open a business. As U.S. Senator, I will take our shared values of fiscal discipline and opportunity to Washington so that future generations will have the ability to find good jobs and open a business here in West Michigan.”

Congressman Bill Huizenga was endorsed in the 2ndCongressional District race with Democrat Dean Vanderstelt.

Brian Ellis is being backed in the 3rd Congressional District over incumbent Republican Rep. Justin Amash and Democrat Bob Goodrich.

According to a statement from Friends of West Michigan Business, the candidates were selected after questionnaires and interviews.
