HOLLAND, Mich. (June 10, 2014) — The lane closure on southbound US-31 at the Washington overpass could last up to a year, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT).
A truck struck the overpass Monday afternoon and damaged the infrastructure.
MDOT estimates replacement costs will total $400,000. There was no estimated figure for repairs.
“Repairs may take four months to complete, while replacing the damaged beams could take a year or more due to a steel shortage that has already delayed other MDOT projects this year,” MDOT said in a release.
