logoLANSING, Mich. (June 12, 2014) – The West Michigan Film Office is guaranteed at least $250,000 in film incentives as part of the state’s general omnibus budget.

The House overwhelmingly approved the conference spending plan on Thursday by a 100 to 10 vote.

It’s a $37.4 billion plan that includes funding for everything from corrections to education and more.

Film incentives for the 2014-15 fiscal year total $50 million – $25 million in one-time funding, and $25 million in ongoing money.

Under a plan introduced in the House, the West Michigan Film Office would have received not less than 10 percent of the appropriated funding.

The $250,000 was the result of conference negotiations.

The Senate opened voting on the measure just after 3:30 p.m. while Democrats were still in caucus. It passed 24 to 12, with two members not voting.
