Pedestrian Robbed at Gunpoint Near University of Michigan Campus

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (June 15, 2014) – A pedestrian was robbed at gunpoint Saturday night off campus near the University of Michigan Medical Campus Saturday night, according to University Police.

Officials said the robbery happened around 10:30 P.M. in front of the Detroit Observatory on the 1300 block of East Ann Street. The pedestrian told police that a man showed a black handgun and demanded the pedestrian’s belongings. Police said the suspect grabbed the pedestrian’s backpack and cash, then fled on foot toward Zina Pitcher Street.

Police describe the suspect to be a black man, six-foot two-inches tall, with a thin build, dark complexion and short hair without facial hair. Witnesses said the suspect was wearing black pants, a black hoodie, white tennis shoes, and was not wearing glasses.
