HOLLAND, Mich. (July 3, 2014) — Two people were injured after a skateboarder fell in front of a horse-drawn carriage and spooked the horse Thursday evening.

The incident happened at about 8:30 p.m.

According to a release from Holland Police, the 19-year-old woman who was driving the carriage sustained minor injuries trying to stop the horse.   The horse ran 8th Street to Central Avenue, then south on Central to 10th Street, where it then struck a parked vehicle and broke free.

After the horse broke free, police said it knocked over a 69-year-old woman from Ionia.  She sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital.  She has since been released.

A Holland couple and their 3-year-old daughter were riding in the carriage, but were not injured.   The horse’s condition was not specified in a release.

Holland Police would like to speak with the male skateboarder who did not stay in the area to be identified after the incident.  Anyone with information should contact Holland Police at 616-355-1737.
