FORT WAYNE, Ind. (July 6, 2014) — In the bottom of the third inning of today’s Whitecaps game against the Fort Wayne TinCaps, West Michigan starting pitcher Jon Maciel hit a bird mid-flight with a pitch to home plate.
The Whitecaps would go on to defeat the TinCaps 7-6 to complete a three-game series sweep. The Whitecaps are off Monday and will continue their 10-game road trip on Tuesday in Bowling Green.
