MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. — After missing the arraignment for Sandra Detty’s alleged killer, the Muskegon Heights woman’s family says they wish they could’ve seen the suspect in handcuffs.
“We very much wanted to see him face-to-face and know that she had a family and we’re going to be here every minute watching this trial and making sure that justice is done,” Nancy Andrews, Detty’s cousin, said.”The family deserves that.”
Detty was found shot to death inside her Muskegon Heights home at the Mona Lake Mobile Home Park on Friday. While police are releasing few details about what led up to the shooting they said Tom Kerbuski Jr. is the man who pulled the trigger. Detty’s family said the two were a couple.
Over the years, Andrews said Detty became estranged with her family due to her choice in lifestyle.
“She just glowed. When Sandy was in her good days she just glowed,” Andrews said.
During Kerbuski’s arraignment the judge denied him bond.
His next court appearance is pending. Detty’s family says funeral arrangements have yet to be finalized.
