MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Four Tigers are in Minnesota for the 85th MLB All-Star Game.

Miguel Cabrera is appearing in his ninth All-Star Game, fifth with Detroit; he is starting at first base and batting fourth for the American League.

“When you see the faces you see everyday and they are in the All-Star game with you, that means a lot, they go out there and play hard.  That’s extra motivation for them and we can go out there after the break and try to win” Cabrera said about having three of his Tigers teammates here with him.

Starting pitcher Max Scherzer is appearing in his second consecutive mid-summer classic.

Designated Hitter Victor Martinez was selected as a reserve, but will not play due to injury.  Victor did say Monday he is “95 percent sure he will be ready when the season resumes Friday.”

Second Baseman Ian Kinsler is replacing Martinez on the roster, his fourth All-Star and first with the Tigers.

“It’s great to be here, every opportunity you get to be in an All-Star game is special.  To be among the best players in the game is pretty special, you just try and soak everything in and just enjoy it as much as you can” Kinsler said.

The All-Star Game starts at 8 p.m. Tuesday night on FOX.
