PARK TOWNSHIP, Mich. — An elderly man is recovering in the hospital from serious injuries after his four-wheeler collided with a pickup truck.

Police say the accident happened Tuesday evening at Michigan Avenue and Hutchinson Road in Park Township in Ottawa County.  Gerald Butler, 74, attempted to cross Michigan Avenue on his 4-wheeler from a private driveway.  Butler did not see an approaching Chevy pickup truck, which was pulling a boat.  The driver tried to avoid Butler, but the trailer struck Butler on his 4-wheeler.  As a result, Butler was thrown onto the road and suffered serious injuries.

Butler was flown to the hospital.  He was not wearing a helmet.
