MUSKEGON, Mich. — An Aramark prison worker and a prisoner were caught in a compromising position in the kitchen area at the Muskegon Correctional Facility recently.

Last week, corrections officers were alerted by an inmate about improper conduct in a clerk’s office at the rear of the kitchen area. Told that other prisoners were posted as lookouts, two officers went through the kitchen’s back door near a loading dock and found a female food-service worker and a male inmate alone in the office.

The female worker’s pants were unbuttoned and unzipped while the male inmate was adjusting the front of his pants. The woman said the prisoner had dropped a pen and was looking for it.

No pen was found on the floor.

The female kitchen worker was escorted off the property and has not been back inside the prison since.

The incident was the latest of several recent problems involving Aramark, the private company providing food service for the state’s prison system, including four previous workers fired for inappropriate contact with inmates, two occasions of maggots near food lines and several food shortages.
