Child may have started apartment fire; smoke seen for miles

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A child may have started a fire that tore through an apartment building on Grand Rapids northwest side Thursday night, according to neighbors at the scene.

Smoke could be seen as far away as Ottawa County, said some FOX 17 News viewers.

The fire began at around 6 p.m. at Fourth Street and Davis Avenue.

196 fireEverybody was able to get out of the building safely, and there were no injuries reported.

The American Red Cross arrived at the scene to assist.
