GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Consumers Energy is planning a power outage in Grandville and Wyoming for 7 p.m. Thursday.

On Thursday afternoon, Consumers announced that electric service to 4,366 customers in the Grandville/Wyoming area would be interrupted for between 45 minutes and one hour beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The interruption has been planned so that crews can safely perform emergency repairs on a substation.

The work will affect all five circuits served by the Stonegate substation. That includes parts of the cities of Grandville and Wyoming in southwestern Kent County.

Consumers said that customers within the following geographic boundaries would be without electric service for up to one hour during that time frame:

  • Lee Street to the north.
  • 44th Street to the south.
  • Wilson to the west.
  • Burlingame to the east.

Customers can get updated information about the outage by checking Consumers Energy’s online outage map at www.consumersenergy.com/outagemap

Consumers Energy is the principal subsidiary of CMS Energy and provides natural gas and electricity to nearly 6.5 million of Michigan’s 10 million residents in all 68 Lower Peninsula counties.
