OAKFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 20-year-old man was killed Wednesday after being thrown from a vehicle during a two-vehicle crash.

According to a release from Michigan State Police, the crash happened at about 11:37 p.m. on 14 Mile Road east of Wellman.

A 21-year-old Greenville man was driving east on 14 Mile when police say he passed another vehicle on the right shoulder and lost control while re-entering the road.

His vehicle then crossed the center line and struck a westbound vehicle driven by a 35-year-old woman from Cedar Springs.

The 21-year-old was pinned in his vehicle and had to be extricated, and is still in serious condition.   The man killed was a passenger in his vehicle, and another 22-year-old passenger and the woman in the other vehicle are both in stable condition.

The victims have not been identified.

Police believe alcohol and speed are both factors in this crash.  It remains under investigation.
