GRAND HAVEN, Mich. -- The Coast Guard Festival will begin for the 90th year in Grand Haven to honor the men and women who serve in the United States Coast Guard.

The festival runs July 25-Aug. 3 and begins with the Lighthouse Quilt Guild at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Admission costs $6 and the event will feature more than 130 quilts, demonstrations, and more. Friday will also include Festival Idol to showcase local musical talent. The entry fee to compete is $25 and general admission is $3, but children five and under are free. Tickets will only be available at the gate.

July 26 is Family Day and includes a 5K run/walk and a 10K run, as well as a kids parade, red carpet photos, and a free hot dog lunch. On July 28, folks can help welcome four Coast Guard ships that will sail in, and enjoy free tours of the ships.
