BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – A Battle Creek woman and her family said they are thankful to still be together, after the man she was seeing held a gun to her head and pulled the trigger at her home Wednesday night.

According to the Battle Creek Police Department, Keir Watson, 24 of Battle Creek, held a gun to her head then pulled the trigger, but the gun did not fire.

Watson is charged with four felonies: assault with intent to murder; felony firearm; third-degree fleeing and eluding; and resisting and obstructing.

Officers said it happened just after midnight on Wednesday. After Watson assaulted the woman at her home several times, officers said he led police on a high speed chase for several blocks. Watson hit a parked tan Buick on Parkway Drive, then spun out of control and hit a utility pole near the corner of Parkway Drive and Washington. Officers said Watson fled on foot but was soon caught.

On Friday the victim spoke with FOX 17 over the phone and said she is recovering. She said she was driving back from Chicago with loved ones after going to a Beyoncé concert to try and take her mind off of things.

Meanwhile on Parkway Drive, neighbors told FOX 17 that this is an unfamiliar scene in their neighborhood: a totaled parked car, followed by trails of tire tracks, leading to a shredded utility pole.

Owner of the totaled car Shannan Dickinson said this was the scene she came home to Wednesday morning.

“An actual piece of street got dug out, and that was on top of my car,” said Dickinson. “It was like a big hole sitting next to my car. Yeah, it’s pretty messed up.”

Dickinson said she is left without a way to get to work.

“I just want my car fixed or replaced, don’t care who do it or how it get done. I need my vehicle so I can live my life,” said Dickinson.

Watson’s bail is set at $100,000, and is due back in court on July 30.

According to court records, there is no history of any personal protection orders that have been filed against Watson.
