POLKTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A collision between a pickup and tractor seriously injured the truck driver Tuesday afternoon.

At 4:10 p.m. Tuesday, the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash with injuries on 56th Avenue south of Taft Street in Polkton Township.

The investigation showed that Neal Arden Bouchard, 47, of White Cloud was drivig a John Deere tractor pulling a trailer southbound on 56th Avenue followed by a Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by William Joseph Goodale, 36, of Wyoming. Goodale then pulled into the northbound lane to pass the tractor when Bouchard turned left into a private driveway and struck the truck.

Goodale’s pickup was forced into a ditch and rolled over onto the driver’s side. Goodale was pinned inside the vehicle, was extricated by firefighters and was transported to the hospital with internal injuries.

He was hospitalized in serious condition at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.

Bouchard was not injured.

Both Bouchard and Goodale were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.
