1. California water main break floods UCLA campus

ucla water main breakStreets and parts of UCLA were flooded after a water main burst in the middle of Sunset Boulevard on July 29. Several buildings on campus were damaged, including the newly renovated Pauley Pavilion, home to the basketball teams. Officials say damage estimates could reach into the millions. 2. More Western sanctions imposed on Russiarussian rebels

Western powers are blaming Russian President Vladimir Putin for ongoing violence in Eastern Ukraine. The United States and the European Union accused Russia of training and arming rebels in Eastern Ukraine and perpetuating the crisis in the area. According to the American Propane Gas Association, it’s smarter for consumers and retailers to lock in prices for propane in preparation for the winter while it’s still summer, because that’s when the demand for gas is low.
