The Tigers acquire David Price from the Rays at the trade deadline

DETROIT, Mich (July 31, 2014) — The Tigers have landed starting pitcher David Price from the Tampa Bay Rays in a three-team trade.

Detroit gives up CF Austin Jackson who goes to the Seattle Mariners, SP Drew Smyly and Whitecaps SS Willy Adames go to the Rays.

Price, the 2012 AL Cy Young award winner, is 11-8 with a 3.11 earned run average this season with Tampa. The Tigers now have the last three American League Cy Young Award winners with Justin Verlander (2011) and Max Scherzer (2013) in their starting rotation.

Tampa also gets 2B/SS Nick Franklin from the Mariners in the deal.
