BELMONT, Mich. — The best in women’s golf will tee off this week in Belmont as the Meijer LPGA Classic gets underway.

The tournament started Monday at Blythefield Country Club with practice rounds for the golfers and a ladies day on Tuesday for the public. The pro-am tees off Wednesday before the first round of play Thursday.

This premier LPGA event brings the very best in ladies golf to the Grand Rapids area, but with sponsors like Meijer and Kraft there promises to be more than just golf as the tournament gets into full gear. The Kid’s Center opens Thursday, and the Celebrity Chef Cook-Off gets underway Friday, providing family fun for all ages.

Spectators will be able to watch match play as the tournament officially starts Thursday and concludes with the trophy presentation on the 18th green Sunday.
