2 killed, 1 injured in fiery car crash in Montcalm County

BELVIDERE TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Michigan State Police Troopers report that two people are dead and a third person is injured, after a car smashed into a tree and burst into flames.

The crash happened near Musson Road and Church Road in Belvidere Township early Monday morning.  It is not clear what led up to the crash, but police say there were three people in the car at the time of the crash.  The driver, a 19-year-old male from Six Lakes, escaped the vehicle and was flown to the hospital with serious injuries.  Another 19-year-old man from Six Lakes, and a 17-year-old male from Mt. Pleasant were both pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident remains under investigation.
