Pilot killed after small plane goes down in Allegan County

ALLEGAN COUNTY, Mich. – The pilot of a small plane that went down in rural Allegan County Monday afternoon was killed, according to Michigan State Police.

Casco Township farmers in the area of 109th Avenue and 68th Street, between South Haven and Saugatuck, saw a small plane go down at around 12:15 p.m.

The victim is a 45-year-old Hastings man.  State police said the man left Illinois around 10:30 a.m. Monday.

Parts of a plane were found in a wooded area after a Michigan State Police helicopter was requested to help in the search.
