1. Two dead following massive flooding in Metro Detroit

flooding 11A 100-year-old woman from Warren and a 30-year-old woman from Sterling Heights have died following flooding that hit Metro Detroit on Monday. It comes as I-696 at I-75 remains closed as stranded and submerged cars continue to litter the streets in southeast Michigan. Governor Rick Snyder has activated the state’s emergency operation center and is sending in more Michigan State Police Troopers. However, it could be weeks or even months before things get back to normal. Victim: Michael Connor Verkerke

Connor Verkerke, 9, was stabbed and killed by Jamarion Lawhorn, 12, on August 4. According to Stroo Funeral Home, his memorial is set for Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at Cornerstone Church in Caledonia with a 10:30 a.m. visitation. 4. More than 20 employers looking to fill positions at Wyoming job fair Unemployment-Michigan-jobless-generic

 Michigan Works! and Kentwood Community Church will host a job fair today from 9 a.m. until noon. More than 20 employers will be there, including Amway Hotel Collection, McDonald’s, GFS, and Speedway. 5. Restaurant Week kicks off in Grand Rapids
