KALAMAZOO COUNTY, Mich. — A man from Kalamazoo County is in on life support after he was beaten in San Francisco.

According to our FOX affiliate KTVU-TV, 31-year-old Bryan Higgins, was brutally beaten in the Duboce Triangle area Saturday.  Friends say Higgins attended Comstock High School.

San Francisco Police say Higgins was the victim of an assault and attempted murder. He was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with critical injuries, but he was not carrying ID so until recently he was listed as John Doe.

With no ID, police put out a picture to the media to help identify him. KTVU says Higgins remained unidentified until a neighbor recognized him in reports and then contacted his family.

San Francisco Police say they are looking for a suspect described as white man in his 20s or 30s who was wearing a gray sweater.

A vigil is being planned in San Francisco for later today.  According to the Remembering Bryan ‘Feather’ Higgins page on Facebook,  another vigil is set for the same time in Kalamazoo to coincide with the time family members will take Higgins off life support.
