WEST MICHIGAN — The Consumer Product Safety Commissionrecently announced a smoke detector recall involving roughly 141,000 units.

The 400 and 500 series hard-wired smoke detectors from Edwards (ESL) and Interlogix are being recalled because radio frequency interference can cause them not to alert people to fires.

The CPSC is advising consumers to contact their fire system provider immediately for a free replacement if any of their units are included in the recall.  They stress that people should not take the alarms out of service until a replacement alarm is installed.
