GENEVA TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Two men with outstanding warrants have been arrested after police in Van Buren County say they created a disturbance at a home.

On August 13, around 2:10 p.m., deputies were called to 68th Street at the Meadow Brook Mobile Home Park for a report of two people creating a disturbance. Shawn White of Bangor, 27, went to the home, asking if someone was inside. He was told that the person wasn’t there, but persisted, and was told to leave. He eventually broke a window out of the house, sustaining significant injury to his hand.

White then got into the front passenger seat of a vehicle that a 21-year-old woman was driving. Witnesses told police that she put the car in reverse and “gunned it.” The vehicle hit a 6-year-old boy and knocked him off his bicycle and sped out of the community in an unknown direction. The boy was not injured.

A caller gave police names of the suspects and provided a vehicle description, and deputies found the vehicle parked at a home on 48th Street in Arlington Township. They found the woman cleaning blood out of her car, and found Shawn White, as well as another suspect, Derrick White inside the home. Shawn White was found to have outstanding warrants for assault, contempt of court, and failure to pay child support. Derrick White was found to have an outstanding warrant for contempt of court.

Shawn was treated for his hand injury and both suspects were taken to the Van Buren County Jail.

Police are seeking additional charges against Shawn and the 21-year-old woman who has not been identified yet.
