ROYAL OAK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK FOX 2)- About $337 million in flood damage has been estimated in Oakland County and that number could rise as more reports come in.

Gov. Rick Snyder visited one of the hardest hit areas,  Royal Oak,  surveying flood damage and helping residents impacted by the storm Friday.

His first stop was Royal Oak Middle School.

“All the cabinets have to be removed, drywall cut, we need to parcel out our resources to make sure there’s a safe environment for our kids,” said Royal Oak Superintendent. Shawn Lewis-Lakin.

Much of Southeastern Michigan was hammered earlier this week when heavy rains caused flooding and shutdown interstates.
