PORTAGE, Mich. -- Kalamazoo County officials are investigating a string of strange tampering incidents at all four Meijer locations in the county.

According to a release from Portage Police, a suspect placed candy, walnuts and cat food in the containers, resealed them and returned them.

In at least three incidents, officials say they also found prescriptions like Sotalol, Coumadin and 800 mg Ibuprofen.

After being returned to the stores the containers were then put back on shelves, officials say.

"Some of the bottles that were in the packages were the original vitamin bottles, other non-labeled prescription bottles and bottles that were painted black," a release from Portage officials says.

The primary vitamin impacted by this incident is Mega Red Ultra Strength Omega-3 Krill Oil, police said.

Meijer notified all of their other stores and have since removed suspicious items from shelves, according to a release.

Police are checking with other local merchants to see if their products were tampered with.  No description of the suspect has been released.
