1. 3 people injured in mobile home park stabbing
A woman and two men were injured following an overnight stabbing at the Brook Haven Mobile Home Park on West River Drive in Plainfield Township. Police responded around 1:15 a.m. on August 22 and found the victims. The woman had serious injuries, and was taken to the hospital for a laceration on her back. Two other men had minor injuries. 2. 17-year-old killed in Muskegon Heights drive-by shooting
Daquaruis Love, 1
7, was killed in a drive-by shooting in Muskegon Heights, along Peck Street and Hume Avenue just after midnight on August 21. Family says he was walking to a party when a vehicle pulled up and someone opened fire, hitting Love in the chest. Love’s death is the seventh in a string of murders that have occurred this year. Love’s friend, Marquis Gresham, was also shot and killed in the streets during a drive-by. Anyone with information is asked to call Silent Observer at 231-72-CRIME. 3. Animals seized from home up for adoption
Almost 40 dogs were seized from an alleged animal hoarder’s home back in June, and starting today, some of them will be available for adoption at the Kent County Animal Shelter. Kimberly Savino was accused of hoarding the animals, and originally had until August 15 to pay $106,000 to care for the animals or lose them. In order to adopt an animal, you must fill out an application from the animal shelter and provide proof that animals are allowed in your home. 4. Last Movies in the Park tonight
This year’s Movies in the Park series will wrap up with a special double feature on the giant, inflatable screen. Tonight’s showing will include “The Sandlot” and “Jurassic Park.” Pre-movie activities start at 7 p.m. at Ah-Nab-Awen Park and the film will begin at dusk. Costumes are encouraged, and prizes will be awarded to the best dressed attendees. Be sure to bring chairs, blankets, and snacks. Vendors will also be at the park selling snacks. 5. 28th Street Metro Cruise starts today
The 10th annual 28th Street Metro Cruise begins today in Wyoming. A pre-cruise party will start at 4 p.m. and go until 8 p.m. at Performance Automotive. The cruise will also feature vendors and live music at Rogers Plaza in the evening, as well as a pin-up girl contest. On Saturday, the event will start at 9 a.m. and will feature appearances from Jimmy Shine. Read more: 28th Street Metro Cruise
