BIG RAPIDS, Mich. — A 19-year-old man from White Could, Mich. was arrested Friday night after assaulting a police officer and flipping a couch onto a vehicle causing more than $1,000 in damage.

According to a release from the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were patrolling the area near the University Park Suites and Oakwood apartments to check on reports of a party when they witnessed the teen flip the couch onto the car.

The suspect was ‘highly intoxicated’ and ran from police twice before he was found hiding under a vehicle. He reportedly assaulted an officer before being taken into custody. Tasers were also used several times on the suspect but had ‘little to no affect,’ according to police.

The man is being held in the Mecosta County Jail, arrested for felony malicious destruction of property, assaulting an officer, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and a minor in procession of alcohol.
