GRAND RAPIDS, Mich — Almost nine months after the 2013 high school football season ended, the 2014 season is ready to begin.

Most teams kick things off tonight, some will play tomorrow.

Our game of the week will be a great rivalry match-up between Grand Rapids Catholic Central and East Grand Rapids at EGR’s Memorial field.

The Cougars welcome back Todd Kolster to the head coaching ranks after 2 years at Jenison, the Pioneers hope this season will be the end of a two-year playoff drought.

Bret Bakita will be live on the shores of Reeds Lake with reaction and analysis.

Our Blitz Battle is Wayland at Hopkins. The Wildcats were a tremendous story in 2013 as they went from 0-9 in 2012 to not only making the playoffs, but winning a playoff game last year. Their neighbors, the Vikings, qualified for the postseason for the 7th straight time last year and won at least a share of their 4th straight OK Silver title. Highlights and reaction on the Blitz tonight.

Kalamazoo Christian and Hackett Catholic Central have combined due to low numbers. Tonight, they play together for the very first time as Kalamazoo United, at Comstock. The Colts have rejoined the Kalamazoo Valley Association for the first time since 1965, in what will be the final year of the KVA. Jason Hutton will be live in Comstock with reaction and analysis.
