Vehicle crashes into building, serious injuries reported

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Battle Creek Police sent the following news release after a vehicle smashed into a building Thursday morning.

At 7:19 am on 8-28-2014, Battle Creek Police officers were dispatched to 205 E. Columbia, along with Battle Creek Fire Dept and LifeCare ambulance, for an Injury Accident. The initial tobacco shoppe car into building 2investigation shows that a vehicle was West Bound on Columbia near Riverside when the vehicle left the roadway and drove into the building located at that address. The driver, a 17 yr old male, was flown via Air Ambulance to a Kalamazoo Hospital and is listed in critical condition. The business suffered severe structural damage.

The crash remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact the Battle Creek Police Dept.
