Battle Creek home fire is investigated as arson

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Two agencies are investigating an attempted arson fire Friday morning.

On Friday night, the Battle Creek Police Department announced that it and the Battle Creek Fire Department were investigating an attempted arson of a residence on North McKinley between Capital Avenue and Emmett Street.

Officers said it appeared that a 22-year-old man entered the residence and set it ablaze at 10:39 a.m. Friday. There was no one at home at the time.

Police said they submitted a warrant for a suspect on charges of home invasion and attempted arson.

The incident remains under investigation by both departments.
