KALAMAZOO COUNTY, Mich. – Nobody was hurt when an Amtrak train struck a vehicle on the tracks in Oshtemo Township late Thursday evening.
Investigators said the car was driving down a road that was closed because of construction. When the driver of the vehicle tried to go around the barricade, the vehicle became stuck on the tracks.
The Amtrak train struck the vehicle near 4th Street and West M near Stadium Drive.
Nobody in the vehicle or on the train was hurt, said authorities.
Photos provided by the Oshtemo Township Fire Department show the vehicle was destroyed by the train that was traveling at least 60 MPH.
