GR fire crews respond to possible hazardous materials situation

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Fire crews are responding to the area of Ann Street and Turner NW to investigate a possible hazardous materials situation.

The Ann Street exit is being shut down to northbound and southbound U.S. 131.

Alpine Avenue to Monroe is closed.  Turner Street to West River Drive is also closed.

Crews were called at 1:25 p.m. to 521 Ann Street after reports a toxic substance may have been released.  We’re told it may be a chlorine leak.

We’re told crews with Grand Rapids, Walker and Alpine Township are on the scene.

It’s not clear if there are any reported injuries.
