Suspect charged with breaking into home and stabbing woman

PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A suspect is awaiting arraignment on charges of assault with intent to murder after a break-in in the 5000 block of Vernor Avenue.

Kent County Sheriff’s deputies answered a call to a home where they found an injured woman who said the suspect–who has not been identified–broke into the home and attacked her with a knife. The woman was was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Grand Rapids Police Department officers located the suspect, who is at the Kent County Jail awaiting arraignment.

Apparently, the suspect and the homeowner knew each other, but the homeowner was unhurt.
