MECOSTA COUNTY, Mich. — A head-on crash sent two people to the hospital Monday evening.

At 8:10 p.m. Monday, Mecosta County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash with injuries on Northland Drive near Old State Road. The investigation determined that a 73-year-old man from Stanwood was northbound on Northland Drive when his vehicle crossed the center line and struck a southbound vehicle head-on.

Two people in the southbound vehicle were hurt — the driver, a 29-year-old Stanwood man, and a 31-year-old passenger. Both were transported by Mecosta EMS to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Deputies said rain was a factor in the collision.

The Mecosta County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by Mecosta/Austin EMS and the Big Rapids and Big Rapids Township fire and rescue units.
