ALLEGAN COUNTY, Mich.—The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) says more Asian Carp sampling is underway along the Kalamazoo River.

More DNR staff are being placed in Allegan County as well to help inform anglers how to properly report any Asian Carp sightings.

Samples taken by the DNR in July show genetics from the silver carp.  These samples were found an estimated 20 miles upstream where the Kalamazoo River flows into Lake Michigan near Saugatuck.

The silver carp is one of the Asian carp experts have been trying to keep from invading the Great Lakes.  The DNR says there is no evidence of a population of either the silver carp or the bighead carp that has been established in this area.

The DNR ask if you sight any of the Asian species to contact their office.
