BYRON CENTER, Mich. — A 55-year-old man was struck and killed on M-6 overnight Wednesday as he walked across the highway.

Michigan State Police did not give a likely reason why Steed Savvy was walking across the westbound lanes of the highway just west of US-131.

The westbound lanes of M-6 were closed from the time of the incident, around 1:30 a.m., until the on site investigation was completed around 5:20 a.m.

The driver of the vehicle was not identified pending further investigation. MSP did not release Savvy’s home town but said his family in Indiana had been notified, nor did they say where Savvy was living at the time.

Alcohol or drugs was not believed to have been a factor.
