MUNCIE, Ind. — P.J. Fleck has said several times this season that his team needs to learn how to finish games.

Consider Saturday’s game finished.

Daniel Braverman took a short pass from Zach Terrell in for a touchdown with 1:25 left in the fourth quarter, helping Western Michigan erase a 28-7 first half deficit and win their first MAC game of 2014 – 42-38 over Ball State.

The Cardinals (1-5, 0-2) drove to within the Western Michigan 10-yard-line with less than a minute to go, but the Broncos defense held – again getting the finish Fleck has been looking for from his team.

Terrell completed 20 of 29 passes for 290 yards and three touchdowns. True freshman tailback Jarvion Franklin continued his sensational debut season – rushing for 161 yards and another three scores – giving him 15 rushing touchdowns on the year, which leads the country.

Corey Davis led the Broncos with 154 yards receiving on six catches, including a 75-yard touchdown. Braverman caught 10 passes for 96 and two scores.

Western Michigan (3-3, 1-1) stays on the road next Saturday, heading to Bowling Green (5-2, 3-0).
