#11 Ferris State knocks off #7 Ohio Dominican
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Jason Vander Laan threw for two touchdowns and ran for another – and the Ferris State defense forced three turnovers – as the 11th-ranked Bulldogs continued their best start in nearly two decades in handing seventh-ranked Ohio Dominican its first loss of the year, 34-19 on Saturday.
Jahaan Brown had 183 of total offense yards and a score for Ferris State (7-0, 6-0 GLIAC). Shakur Sanders and Antonio Agurs both caught touchdown passes from Vander Laan.
Ato Condelee intercepted two ODU passes for the Bulldogs. Troy Smith added a third pick.
The Bulldogs are off to their best start since 1995 – when they finished the regular season undefeated and advanced to the national semifinals.
Saturday’s win sets up a second consecutive matchup of unbeatens for Ferris State – which travels to Michigan Tech (6-0, 6-0 GLIAC) next weekend. The 20th-ranked Huskies stay undefeated with a 35-14 win over Grand Valley State on Saturday. Ferris State and Michigan Tech remain tied for the GLIAC North Division lead.
