DECATUR, Mich.– Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that happened early Sunday morning.

According to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office, at around 1 AM, the 23-year-old driver was allegedly leaving a party on his way home when his truck left the road, crashing into a deep ditch. It all happened on Country Road 668 just south of the Village of Decatur. The driver, deputies say, was found inside the vehicle when they arrived on the scene.

He was extricated by firefighters and taken to the hospital for non life threatening injuries.

According to deputies, a Good Samaritan found the man at around 5 AM and called 911. They believe alcohol to be a factor in the crash, and investigators found a partial keg of Bud Light with a tap pinned under the passenger side of the truck.

The driver’s information is being with held at this time. He was not arrested, but the report will be sent to the Van Buren County Prosecutor’s Office.
