Three people injured after two vehicle crash

LOWELL TOWNSHIP, Mich. — One person had to be extricated out of a vehicle after a two vehicle accident Sunday morning outside of Lowell.

According to the Kent County Sheriff’s Department, the accident at the intersection of Segwun Avenue and Cascade Road SE around 9:20 a.m. Sunday morning.

Deputies state that a 1999 Chevrolet Prizm driven by Joseph Kelly, 66, of Rockford was traveling southbound on Segwun when it failed to stop at the intersection. His car was then struck broadside by a Chevy Malibu driven by David Ladd, 65, of Cedar Springs.  Both vehicles then drove off the road and into a field.

Mr. Kelly had to extricated from his vehicle and was unresponsive at the scene.

Mr. Kelly was taken to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital by Aero Med and was listed in critical condition. Mr. Ladd and his passenger Vickie Ladd, 63, were also taken to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital and were listed in stable condition.

Alcohol and speed do not appear to factors in this crash. This crash remains under investigation by the Kent County Sheriff’s Department.
