SAGINAW, Mich. — An inmate behind bars for a sexual assault in Ottawa County was killed Wednesday at the Saginaw Regional Correctional Facility.

According to Michigan Department of Corrections Spokesperson Russ Marlan, 67-year-old Theodore Dyer’s cellmate is suspected in the killing.

That cellmate has since been transferred to a higher-security place, Marlan said.   Their identity has not been released.

Dyer was sentenced to a maximum of 50 years in prison in January for first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving someone under the age of 13.
