Man, 60, killed in Kent Co. fire

GAINES TOWNSHIP, Mich.– A 60-year-old man died after a house fire Sunday night in Gaines Township.

According to a release from the Kent County Sheriff’s Department, Joseph Feyen was found unresponsive in a home in the 400 block of S. Amber Drive SE.

Deputies were called to the scene at about 10:45 p.m., but were unable to perform a search of the home due to intense heat and smoke.

Once firefighters arrived on the scene they were able to locate Feyen inside the home, but EMS personnel were unable to revive him.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials are still investigating the cause of the fire.
