McDonald’s is recalling approximately 2.3 million Hello Kitty whistles because of a choking hazard.

The toys were distributed in Happy Meals and Mighty Kids Meals in the U.S. in October and the first week of November.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, components inside the whistle could detach and cause users to choke.

McDonald’s has received two reports of children coughing up pieces of the toy.  One of those children required medical attention.

The removable red whistles were in a Hello Kitty figurine holding a pink lollipop.

The whistles can be returned to McDonald’s locations for a free replacement toy.  They’re also offering a free yogurt tube or bag of apple slices.
