(KALAMAZOO, MICH.): — According to a news release from the Catholic Diocese Of Kalamazoo the community of St. Philip Catholic Central High School is mourning the loss of its principal, Mr. Tim May, who died unexpectedly yesterday. Very Rev. John Fleckenstein, pastor and Administrator for the Battle Creek Area Catholic Schools, informed students this morning during a school assembly.

“Mr. May did much for our schools during the year and a half he served as high school principal. His presence, confidence, knowledge, and wisdom will be greatly missed,” said Fr. Fleckenstein. “Mr. May was much more than a high school administrator; he was a man who truly loved being principal, loved his faith, and loved the students he led.”

Tim May was appointed principal of St. Philip Catholic Central High School in June, 2013. He had previously been an educator with the Battle Creek public schools.

Rev. Francis Marotti, St. Philip Parish Associate Pastor and St. Philip’s chaplain, along with school and area counselors, will be available today to comfort and assist students.

Funeral arrangements for Mr. May are pending.
