2,000 expected at Mel Trotter’s Annual Great Thanksgiving Banquet
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — On Thanksgiving, over 2,000 people are expected to gather at Mel Trotter Ministries’ 18th Annual Great Thanksgiving Banquet at DeVos Place.
The family-style meal is a traditional turkey dinner that is put together by hundreds of volunteers. The feast includes 1,500 lbs. of turkey, 1,260 lbs. of mashed potatoes, 50 gallons of gravy, and 500 pies, among other items and goods. The meal is sponsored by Meijer.
New for this year, Mel Trotter Ministries has partnered with The Rapid to provide volunteer bus drivers offering transportation to people around Grand Rapids.
