MUSKEGON, Mich --  LAST SEASON WAS A DREAM YEAR FOR MUSKEGON, BUT THAT DOESN'T MAKE THE BIG REDS ANY LESS HUNGRY ENTERING 2014-2015.

"Everybody just wants to get a new one, we are working harder, smarter, we are just trying to get another one" said Senior Center Deyonta Davis.

MICHIGAN STATE SIGNEE *DEYONTA DAVIS* IS ONE OF THE BEST BIG MEN IN THE COUNTRY AND LEADS THE MUSKEGON CHARGE, BUT THEY MUST FIND A WAY TO REPLACE THREE STARTING GUARDS INCLUDING LAST SEASONS MR. BASKETBALL *DESHAUN THROWER*.

"Our guys that are coming up and taking those roles are getting used to playing without Will, Jordan and Deshaun is that we can't be those guys we are a different team and guys have to understand that we have to replace those guys by committee and be who we are, we are a different team we will play more of an inside out than from the outside in this year we have to realize that and guys have to accept their roles" said Muskegon head coach Keith Guy.

JOEVIAIR KENNEDY, OR HIP HOP AS HE IS KNOWN, IS THE OTHER RETURNING STARTER FOR THE BIG REDS.  HOP WAS A STANDOUT ON THE FOOTBALL TEAM THAT JUST FINISHED ITS SEASON AT FORD FIELD SIX DAYS AGO, THE SHORT TURNAROUND IS NOTHING NEW FOR HIM IT'S THE THIRD STRAIGHT YEAR HE HAS DONE IT.

"It's pretty difficult this year because we got a lot of young guys, last year we had a lot of older guys that knew the offense so this year it's going to be pretty difficult" Kennedy said.

IT HELPS TO HAVE DAVIS WHO BEGINS THE SEASON AS A CANDIDATE FOR THE HAL SCHRAM MR. BASKETBALL AWARD GIVEN TO THE STATE'S TOP SENIOR BASKETBALL PLAYER.   IF HE WINS, MUSKEGON WILL BECOME JUST THE THIRD SCHOOL TO PRODUCE BACK-TO-BACK WINNERS OF THE AWARD.

"If we could produce back-to-back Mister Basketball that means that the team is taking care of business and we are winning.  I don't think a guy would win it if his team is not having success, so if we are doing it as a team and he is realizing his goals of becoming Mister Basketball, taking this team to the next level and making everybody around him better that would mean much for our program" Guy Said.

THE BIG REDS OPEN THE SEASON DECEMBER 12TH AT ROCKFORD.
